The fishermen are protesting at fuel costs which they say have doubled over a year.
Markets in Málaga have been left without fish after fishermen decided to stay in port in protest at the increased cost of diesel.

The fishermen say that fuel costs have doubled since last year and threaten the survival of 1500 families of fishermen across the province from La Caleta de Vélez to Fuengirola. They say at current prices it is simply not worth them putting to sea.

The strike call comes in line with other stoppages across Spain from Andalucía to Galicia in demand for cheaper fuel to make the job worthwhile again.

Gerry - The fishermen only pay 80 cents per litre now - but want that halved.
Gasolina 95 is 1,21 € and diesel is 1,31 €
