The case was brought by the Animal Protection Group, El Refugio.
The Justice of the Peace in the Madrid town of Brunete, has fined a man 444 € 23 cents for firing a compressed airgun at two cats.
Calcetines and Mica were seriously injured by the shots in September last year, with neck, eye and ear injuries.
Animal protection group, El Refugio, brought the case against the man who they say took shots at his neighbour’s cats which were both just three months old at the time.
The animal group currently has more than 70 criminal and civil cases pending for the mis-treatment of animals across the country.
