A list of reasons for exclusion from the Guardia Civil, drawn up in 1988 is now being questioned.
If you only have one ball, a sexually transmitted disease, flat feet, a high-pitched voice, diabetes or psoriasis or if you suffer from migraines or stutter, you cannot be a member of the Spanish Guardia Civil. El País reports today that the list of prohibitions was drawn up in 1988 and describes them as ‘quite questionable’.
The paper claims that people have been refused admission to the force in the past simply because they have a scar, and say that now some patients associations are trying to get the list, seen as obsolete and prejudiced, changed.
There was some progress in 2005 however when people who stutter were finally described as being apt for service as a Civil Guard.

Well, what do you expect? The Guardia Civil is a military police force,
with military organisation. It's not just the list thats obsolete, so are
the Guardia! They should just progresively merge in with the National
Police, and get rid of the Guardia mentality (machismo, corruption, all
dating back to Franco's time). Quiz fact: Did you all know that the Guardia
Civil Officer Prision in Madrid is full to max capacity? Drug dealers,
money laundering, con-men, wife-beaters, etc, etc. And another one (great
this one) they have two "gitano" guardia civiles in Cádiz (they have
finally accepted gypsies!)

P.S. In my last comment, i was not being nasty about "gitanos", i was being
sarcastic, ironic even, due to the fact that the Guradia are well known for
their "lack of tolerance" towards the ethnic spanish gypsies. The two
gitano guardias in Cádiz are the only one's that have been accepted
(political propaganda, etc) basically because they're the only one's that
can enter certain "areas".
