Fourteen families current live in the two properties despite the un-healthy conditions.
The town planning council of Málaga City Hall is on Thursday expected to approve the compulsory purchase of two properties in the city centre, numbers 3 and 5 of Calle Mariscal.

The properties are currently occupied by fourteen families who generally are paying historically low rents, and the owner of the property has declined to maintain the buildings for some time. The result is two buildings close to a ruinous condition which do not meet minimum health and safety standards for accommodation.

The compulsory purchase order is the most severe option open to the City Hall under the LOUA Andalucian town planning law, designed to act against the owners of property who do not properly maintain their properties.

The City Hall says it plans to auction off the two buildings, but whoever purchases them has to give an undertaking to rehabilitate them and guarantee accommodation for the tenants while the work is carried out.
Starting price in the auction is 2.4 million €.
