Speaking in Congress, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, said he wanted to help fishermen, farmers and transport workers.
Spanish Prime Minister, José Luis Rodríguez Zapatero, has promised help for those who have been most affected by the massive rise in petrol prices. Zapatero said that he was working with the French to come up with a package of measures for fishermen, farmers and transport workers.
He gave the news yesterday during the control session in parliament, the Spanish equivalent of Prime Minister’s Question Time, after being questioned by the Catalan CiU deputy Josep Antoni Durán I Lleida. Income tax or VAT breaks was one possible line of action, he said.
Zapatero said it was important for energy efficiency to be improved in Spain and for the country’s dependency on crude to be reduced.
