MP2P technologies is being sued for 13 million Euro.

A Spanish company which developed software to improve P2P file sharing on the internet, MP2P Technologies, is facing legal action from several record companies who are demanding 13 million € in compensation claiming illegal competition.

The company which was developed by the Spanish software developer, Pablo Soto, claims that it always advised its users that they should not use the software to interchange copyright materials. They say you cannot blame a knife manufacturer for what the purchaser uses them for later, and defence lawyer David Bravo also notes that the developer’s income is not linked directly in any way to the sharing of copyright music.

The record companies making the challenge are Promusicae, Warner Music, Universa, EMI, and Sony BMG.
