There is increasing speculation that the driver from Asturias is set to leave Renault at the end of the year.
Speculation is rife as to the future of Fernando Alonso, with many media saying that he is set to leave Renault at the end of the season. The reports in Diario Sport say he will tell the Renault boss, Flavio Briatore, next month, and that he is most likely to be off to BMW.
The man himself has said that ‘Renault has to look to 2009’, as the team’s hopes this year have been dashed by the poor performance of the R28.
Speculation has increased given the possible retirement of Kimi Raikkonen at the end of this season and also the recently reported words of Robert Kubica who has said he would love to have Alonso as his fellow driver in the BMW team.
