However the world number two had problems on the grass of the London club against the young Japanese player Nishikori.
Rafa Nadal has reached the quarter finals of the Queens tennis tournament in London, but not without certain difficulty.
It was 6-4, 3-6, 6-3 for the Mallorca player against the up and coming 18 year old Japanese player Kei Nishikori. Nadal needed more than two hours to win the match against the player ranked 113 in the ATP rankings.
Nadal now meets Croatian Ivo Karlovic in the quarter finals, who has knocked out the Chilean player, Fernando González.
