Nearly two tons of hashish was unloaded on the beach while the Virgen de Fatima was carried in procession through Ayamonte.
Huelva Guardia Civil has arrested a 46 year old local resident of Ayamonte, and a 26 year old man from Portugal, on public health charges after they were found unloading two tons of hashish in the village of Ayamonte.
The Guardia Civil had the men under surveillance and saw how at 1am on Saturday morning they took advantage of the procession of the Virgen de Fátima through the village, which had attracted 7,000 local residents onto the streets, to unload the drug on the beach, in some 62 bales weighing a total of 1,922 kilos.
The two arrested men were on the boat which was also seized by the authorities.
