Other land will also be auctioned for the construction of VPO assisted housing in the town.
Elche Town Hall has announced that it is speeding up plans to release several plots of land in the town so that 6,000 more homes can be built. Land is also to be auctioned so that the private sector can bid to build more VPO assisted housing in the town.

Most of the plots for the new housing are in the area of Arenales and Las Bayas and the decision to proceed was announced by the Councillor for Town Planning, Alejandro Pérez, who said it was being done to keep the construction industry working.
