He has picked up the Spanish National Cinematography prize for 2008.
Spanish actor, Javier Bardem, has picked up yet another important award in his career – the Spanish National Cinematography prize for 2008.
The award is granted by the Ministry for Culture and is worth 30,000 € to the actor, and was announced by the Institute of Cinematography who said that the jury underlined ‘the professional goals reached by the actor in his short career, especially in 2007’.
Over the last year, among others, Bardem has picked up both a Golden Globe and Oscar, for his role in ‘No Country for Old Men’.
The jury also notes the artist’s defence of his profession and Spanish cinema, both inside and outside Spain.
On hearing about the award, Bardem commented that ‘It is not for my persona, but for the entire profession which I love and try to defend daily, by doing my job. I accept this as an affectionate hug from the profession, from by colleagues in Spain, and this affects me deeply’.
