The draft for the new legislation will be drawn up in the first half of 2009.The draft for the new equal treatment law in Spain will be ready in the first half of next year. The undertaking was given yesterday by the Deputy Prime Minister, María Teresa Fernández de la Vega, at the start of Equality Week. She said a committee of experts was being established to help in the draft of the new legislation, and to coordinate with the Government.
De la Vega described the new legislation as a priority for the cabinet as it would make equal treatment between the sexes effective, and eliminate all discrimination against women. A series of measures are planned to affect political, judicial and social life in Spain.
