Lightning strikes saw 175 strikes in Alicante and Murcia in the early hours of today as the Sahara heatwave continues.
Winds from the Sahara are set to send temperatures soaring in the south of Spain again today.

Temperatures of 36 degrees are forecast inland in Alicante province, while the mercury will reach 40 degrees in the Guadalquivir valley in Sevilla and Córdoba, according to the Spanish Meteorological Office.
The relative humidity of more than 60% will make conditions feel even hotter, especially along the coasts.

Meanwhile a storm last night saw as many as 175 lightning strikes over Alicante and Murcia.

The hot conditions are forecast to continue with temperatures back over 32 degrees along the costas and hotter inland again at the weekend.
