The number is higher than that seen in other countries such as Australia, Britain, Germany or Greece.

One in four Spanish men admits that they have paid for sex.

That is one of the conclusions of a study carried out by the Carlos III Health Institute, which questioned 5,153 men, aged between 18 and 49, from across the country. The percentage is higher than that seen in other European countries.

The Spanish data shows that those more likely to pay for sex are older, immigrants, not married, of a low education and also practice their religious beliefs. 95% said that they used a condom when with a prostitute.
