Burgos Airport opens with an unexpected flight

The Spanish Airports Authority, AENA, is investigating an incident at Burgos airport on the day of its opening on Friday.
The inaugural flight should have been the arrival of an Air Nostrum plane as the company was starting commercial services on Friday, but half an hour before a plane from the Lagun Air company landed without permission.
Regional head of AENA, Jesús Villaroel, said that the Lagun flight was in transit and had said they had technical problems. The plane arrived without passengers, but caused visible upset to the Air Nostrum officials waiting the arrival of what should have been their opening flight.
AENA has started a full investigation and Lagun Air could now be fined. The airline claims they did have permission to land.
Air Nostrum start flights to Mallorca from Burgos today. The new airport can accept planes with as many as 250 passengers and has cost the Ministry of Development 46 million €.
