Police discovered the woman after responding to reports of a domestic dispute at the home.

The duty judge in Jerez de la Frontera in Cádiz has ordered prison on remand for a 65 year old man who had held his own wife hostage at home for several days without food.

A statement from the National Police say that the woman was found last Friday 18th after a patrol responded to reports of a domestic conflict. Once in the home the agents talked to the son who was collecting his belongings after deciding to leave home because of the aggressiveness of his father.

It was then they heard the faint cries of the imprisoned wife who was found very weak, having not eaten for several days.
The domestic violence helpline in Spain is 016.
