Carlos Sastre takes the yellow jersey in the Tour de France

The Spanish rider has a lead of 1'34" following a breakaway yesterday.

Spanish cyclist Carlos Sastre surprised many in the Tour de France yesterday with a fabulous race stage to take the leader’s yellow jersey. He managed to take a two minute lead and the stage as the race moved into the alps, making his attack at the start of the climb up Alpe d’Huez.

Carlos Sastre has a 1 minute 34 second lead over Cadel Evans, which he now has to defend over two more stages and the time trial on Saturday where the Spaniard is known to be weak.
Sastre described yesterday’s stage as his life’s dream.
