31 square metre flats in Málaga
By h.b. - Jul 24, 2008 - 8:10 AM

It's the new minimum size under the city's new Urban Plan.

The new PGOU Urban Plan regulations for Málaga are to continue a ruling that any new flats constructed in the city must be at least 31 square metres big, with the average size of new build accommodation coming in at 70 square metres.

The new regulations will also oblige developers to create three parking spaces for every two homes.

The new PGOU Urban Plan for the city has been more than two years in preparation so far, but is expected to be finally approved during the city fair on August 14. It is set to be in force for eight years.

I like the "joke" about parking. The Ayuntamiento have built pay-parking around the city to ease congestion, but thought it would be a good idea to get rid of street-parking also, charging around €2 for half an hour in "their" privatised underground parking. 3 spaces per 2 homes, eh? Bullsh*it! Also, 31 m2 is what every "new" home in the city center will mesure, because they don't want anyone living in the center.
