It was the first match, albeit a friendly, for the new Barça manager, Pep Gaurdiola.

Messi was the star of the first friendly game of the new season for Barcelona who beat Hibernian 0-6 in Scotland where the side is training ahead of the season.

The game at Murrayfield showed the plans of new Barcelona manager Josep Guardiola and allowed the first glimpse of the new signings at the club Alvés, Keita, Hleb, Piqué and Cáceres. It bodes well for the new season.
