The break up of the group's Vizcaya commando has led the authorities to establish the plans for the summer from the Basque terrorists.

The break up of ETA’s most active Vizcaya commando has led the Spanish security forces to establish that the Basque terrorists were planning a ‘wave of terror’ in Andalucía this August.
The group which was to have carried out a chain of terrorist attacks in the region had been called to a meeting in Granada on August 15 to obtain final instructions.

The Partido Popular deputy for Álava, Ramón Rabanera, was one of their objectives, among a list of targets now known to have included commercial and leisure centres and hotels in Andalucía.

National Court judge Baltasar Garzón revealed some details of the plans in his order to send seven of the alleged terrorists and collaborators to prison on remand, describing the Vizcaya group as the ‘most active and dangerous’ since the end of the cease fire.

Three known members of the Vizcaya cell are on the run, and the judge has also issued search and capture orders against them.
It’s now known that the Vizcaya cell met in Portugal last year to organise their logistical operations, and that the cell followed instructions from the man known as ‘Txeroki’, real name Garikoitz Aspiazu. He sent instructions on to Arkaitz Goikoetxea, leader of the Vizcaya cell who has admitted the chain of command in court and that the National Court judge Fernando Grande-Marlaska was also on their target list.

Meanwhile police in France have been searching the flat where two other ETA activists, Asier Eceiza and Olga Comes, were arrested on Friday close to Dijon.
