Pensioners are being targetted to make payments for work never carried out.
The Iberdrola power company has warned that people who do not work for them are using their name to try and defraud members of the public, especially pensioners who live alone, by charging them for work not carried out.
The attempted fraud has been detected in areas of the Valencia region, and it seems that while inside the premises the men take advantage of any opportunity to steal.
Iberdola reminds its clients that they would never ask for any bill to be settled in cash and that all their employees are officially identified and carries cards to indicate that. They say if people are asked to pay in cash they should inform the local police or Guardia Civil immediately.
