The Loner sentenced to 47 years in prison

Jaime Giménez Arbe, Spain's most wanted man for a time, was found guilty of the killing of two Guardia Civil in Castejón Navarra in 2004.

The man known as ‘El Solitario’, The Loner, Jaime Giménez Arbe, has been sentenced to 47 years in prison after being found guilty of killing two members of the Guardia Civil on June 9, 2004 in Castejón, Navarra.

He was given 20 years for each of the killings and seven more for the illegal possession of firearms. He was also ordered to pay 190,000 € compensation to the parents of the two dead men, Juan Antonio Palmero Benítez and José Antonio Vidal Fernández. The fiancé of one of the men will also receive 48,000 € and El Solitario will also pay for 24,285 € worth of damage caused to a Guardia civil car.

At the time of his arrest, El Solitario was Spain’s most wanted criminal after a whole series of bank robberies where he had been repeatedly caught on camera wearing a full fake beard. He was finally arrested by police in Portugal after his last bank robbery in Toro, Zamora.
