74 year old grandfather stops Alcala del Rio bankrobbery

The 74 year old jumped the thief when he saw he had his hands full with a shotgun and the money when trying to open the bank door.
A 74 year old Sevilla man is being described as ‘superabuelo – supergrandad’ today after he stopped a bank robbery yesterday in Alcalá del Rio.
Joaquín Velázquez intervened during the raid despite the fact that the thief had a shotgun. Grandad jumped on the man when he noticed the thief got into a mess trying to carry the booty, the gun, a cardboard box which had contained the gun, and as the thief decided to put the gun away as he approached the door, granddad jumped on him.
He managed to hold the robber on the ground and stopping him escaping with the 16,000 € cash he had been given.
All the locals now consider Joaquín a hero, but his son José Manuel also said many locals had asked his father not to do such a thing again.
