The ex President of Telefónica says he will not be buying more shares for now and has criticised plans to sell star player David Villa.

The ex President of Telefónica, Juan Villalonga, has decided not to purchase the shares belonging to Juan Soler in the Valencia Football Club. A statement from Villalonga says he feels obliged not to buy the additional shares from the club’s ex President after Soler have the right to buy his shares to Vicente Soriano, who now in effect controls the club.

It means that Villalonga has decided to withdraw from the club, although he warned that his retirement was a ‘momentary’ one. He also criticised plans of the club to sell David Villa to Roma for 25 million, claiming that the talks on the transfer were already well advanced.
