Three people are in hospital with serious burns.

23 people have been treated for burns following ‘La Nit de l’Albà’ in Elche this year, with three of them seriously hurt with third degree burns. A 42 year old man is in the burns unit of Alicante Hospital with burns to his abdomen after taking part in the ‘guerra de las carretillas’. A 41 year old man has burns to his extremities and is being treated in Elche hospital.

La Nit de l’Albà is held on the night of August 13 in Elche, ahead of the famous Misteri d’Elx, when an hour before midnight fireworks are set off in honour of the Patrona of the city, ending with the ‘palmera’ being thrown from the Santa María Basilica, after which a fire fight starts in an area closed off by the City Council.

For the second year in a row I witnessed this orgy of fireworks. I have seen some other fireworks events in my live but the Elche "La Nit de l’Albà" is by far the biggest fireworks expectle I witnessed in my live!
But, withnessed from a safe distance, the borders of the city. You get a better view and obviousley, as the article reviews, much less risk for accidents (or just respirational problmes due the smoke.)

One could ask himself if such an orgy of fireworks, an orgy in both color and light as well as thunders and hauling, will withstand the reason over the next years seen in the light of the accidents and obvious air pollution it causes..
But as long it will be held we can recommend anyone that even likes a little fireworks to visit this one once in his live! It is the best, and longest you´ll ever see. From dusk to midnight the expactalcle runs with its climax between 11 pm and mindnight and a great final at the end....

Can't really condemn "fire raisers" with this going on!

Well, your remark shows you can't distinguis the difference between a organised and managed traditional public event and some delibirate criminal actions performed by some lunatics...
