Eight people have died and some 30 have been injured in a coach crash in Castellón. At least one of the fatalities is a child.
It happened at 6pm at the 409 km point on the AP-7 road in Oropesa del Mar when the coach, on the route between Valencia – Tarragona – Barcelona, crossed the central reservation into oncoming traffic for reasons which are still to be established.
The driver of the vehicle is among the dead. It seems no other vehicle was involved as the coach finally left the road.
Six of the injured are said to be seriously hurt. The coach was carrying Moroccan citizens travelling to Barcelona.
Across the country 20 people have lost their lives on the roads over the bank holiday weekend, some 28 fewer than last year despite the coach crash.
