The race is expected to leave some 70 million Euro in the city.

The European Formula One Grand Prix which is to be held in Valencia Port for the first time later this month is forecast to leave 70 million € in the city.

140,000 visitors are expected to descend on the city where the teams have already arrived for the event which runs on the 23rd and 24th of August. Local traffic will be banned from the roads used for the circuit from today.

City Councillor for Tourism, Angélica Such, said that the Valencia region was strengthening its position as a leading tourist destination for sports events, following also the Sailing Round the World Race which leaves from Alicante, and the Masters Golf Azahar de Castellón. She said that tourist spending after the America’s Cup in Valencia last year was almost 3,000 € a day.
