The management of the plant say that no personel were affected and there was no leak of radiation.

The Management of the Vandellós II nuclear power plant in Tarragona has informed the Council for Nuclear Safety, CSN, that a fire took place in an electrical generador in the plant this morning.

It happened at 8,49am and was extinguished by 10,30am, and has resulted in the plant being shut down.

They say that workers in the plant were not affected and there was no incident involving radiation. The plant is now said to be ‘stopped and stable’, but the CNS made the recommendation that the Tarragona Nuclear Emergency Plan be activated.
