It comes twenty years after they were admitted to the armed forces and now with a female Minister for Defence.
The Ministry for Defence has announced that it is to start supplying different uniforms for female Spanish soldiers.
Minister for Defence, Carme Chacón, is reported to have been behind the move, and there are also reports that new measures to reconcile work and family life are being considered, including the creation of play nurseries for children aged 3 to 12.
The improvements for women come 20 years after they were admitted to the Spanish armed forces for the first time.
