The Spanish architect says that the movement of earth ahead of the Pope's rally in Valencia led to the flooding of his building in 2007.
Valencian architect, Santiago Calatrava, has said that one of his designs, the Reina Sofia Palau de les Arts in Valencia, flooded in October 2007 because of the visit by the Pope.
He said that the combination of heavy rain and the movement of earth for the World Families Meeting with the Pope blocked normal drainage routes of the Turia river leading to the flooding of the building.
By making the statement the architect is informing his client, the regional Generalitat government, that he was not responsible for the flood damage.
