Toñi Vicente is alleged to have purchased illegally sold scallops.
The Guardia Civil has arrested a group of people, including the famous chef, Toñi Vicente, who are allegedly linked to a network which illegally sold scallops from contaminated rivers.
Regulations forbid the sale of the shellfish from the Galician rivers as they contain a toxin ASP, which can lead to cases of gastroenteritis in serious cases.
Toñi Vicente is the owner of a prestigious restaurant in Santiago and was reportedly arrested as she was making a purchase of the shellfish. She has declined to talk to the press.
The Guardia Civil say that more well-known chefs could be named in the case shortly.
