The driver denies the charge which relates to an incident in December 2006.
The prosecutor in a court in Valencia is demanding a taxi driver be sentenced to a 3,300 € fine for refusing to pick up a pregnant woman who was on the ground and bleeding at the time.
The court heard yesterday how the driver allegedly told her and her husband to find another cab before driving off, although the accused denies the allegation. He claims that he told the couple he would only take them at a legal speed, and not ‘jumping red lights’ as the husband had demanded.
The case dates back to an incident in December 2006. Finally the woman did arrive at the La Fe hospital in the city where the decision to carry out a Caesarean was made. Both mother and baby are now well, but she had to spend a week in hospital and her baby was kept in hospital for a month.
