3,600 Euro fine for sexually abusing a 12 year old in Gijón

The 57 year old man has offered to pay 1,000 Euro more on his own initiative.

There is outrage in Gijón after a canoeing instructor has been ordered to pay a mere 3,600 € to one of his pupils, a 12 year old boy who the instructor has admitted abusing sexually.

He was also ordered to stay more than 500m away from the boy for the next three years, and not carry out any activity with children for two years. The instructor has said he will pay 1,000 € more under his own initiative.

The court heard how he had touched the boy intimately and repeatedly in his office after a training session, even though the child had asked him to stop.

57 year old L.A.F.M. admitted the charge in the Avilés Penal Court yesterday, but his defence lawyer said that since the incident he had shown his remorse.

The prosecutor had earlier asked for a two year prison sentence but said he was now happy with the fine reached under a plea deal.
