It comes as the El Mundo newspaper prints claims that the company failed to follow maintainance proceedures recommended by the plane manufacturer Boeing.
The management of Spanair has reached an agreement with the unions on the sacking of 1,200 workers and the relocation within the company of 800 others.
Under the deal those to lose their jobs will be paid 35 days pay for each year worked in the company, while the 800 who have to move across the country to keep their jobs will be paid the costs of the move.
Workers who were earning less than 18,000 € a year will be paid more compensation, 48 days pay for each year worked.
Spanair announced its redundancy plans ahead of the tragic accident involving one of its MD-82 planes at Barajas Airport in Madrid on August 20. Since then the company has reported a further fall in bookings.
Meanwhile the El Mundo newspaper today prints a series of pictures of the wreckage of the plane which is being stored in a hanger at the airport, where the paper says it is being analysed and in some cases parts are being re-assembled.
The paper also claims today that the company failed to follow Boeing norms in repairing the error with the outside temperature gauge, adding that the Spanair maintenance manual fails to mention the procedure to follow. The paper says the temperature gauge on the plane had failed five times in 48 hours and following the repair technicians should have carried out a series of other checks, including checking the audio warning system for the wing flap position. It was the attempt of the plane to take off with the flaps in the incorrect position which is believed to have caused the crash in which 154 people lost their lives.
