Spaniards taking less drugs and drinking less

An optimistic report has been compiled following the questioning of 20,000 people.
The latest home survey on drug and alcohol use in Spain, EDADES, is to be presented by the end of the month, but 20minutos reports that it will show that tobacco, alcohol and cannabis use are all down in the 15 to 64 year old age group when compared to 2004.
The survey also shows that cocaine use has started to stabilise, but despite the news the Minister for Health, Bernat Soria, has warned that the public’s guard must not be dropped. Spain remains one of the countries with the highest cocaine use in the world.
However it does seem that the general public is now more aware of the risks of drug use and illegal drugs are now more difficult to obtain than before.
The numbers in the survey are obtained from the questioning of 20,000 people and the reductions seen are the first since the report was first compiled in 1994.
