Weather warning in Murcia

There is a fifty percent chance of a 'gota fria' cloudburst today which could bring flooding to the region.

The Spanish Met office says that there is a chance of dangerous cloudbursts in the Murcia and Valencia regions today. An orange alert is in place for Murcia which could see 100 litres of rain per square metre over just 12 hours.

They say the situation is similar to that seen in 1973 when the Segura river burst its banks. The experts say there is a 40-50% chance of a serious cloudburst in the area today and the alert for heavy rain could remain in place until Sunday.

During the storms, wind speed is forecast to increase to as much as 70 km/hour.
