Josefa Jiménez said she could wait no more when told that the public toilets in the police station had been closed for security reasons.

A 52 year old Malaga woman, Josefa Jiménez, finally urinated on a bench outside the main police station in the city as she simply could not wait any more.

Josefa, who is currently undergoing chemotherapy and who consequently suffers from a weak bladder, went to the police station to place a denuncia at 1030am on Tuesday morning, a process which took some three hours. When she asked where the toilets were, she was told that they had been closed for security reasons.

She said that she had no idea that was the situation as on other occasions when she had to go to the police station she had used the facilities of a nearby cafeteria. This time she said she had no option but to go and sit on a bench in the garden outside.

A national police spokesman said that the public toilets had been closed for security reasons, but that he was surprised a policeman did not offer to accompany Josefa to their own facilities in the building.

20 minutos reports that there are several police stations in Málaga where there are no toilets for public use.
