The insurance company foundation has new large exhibition space.

The Mapfre Foundation has a new headquarters at 23, Paseo de Recoletos in central Madrid, and the new centre opens with three interesting exhibitions – ‘Degas, The Process of Creation’, a vision of Spanish art at the change of the century ‘Espana 1900’ which features Sorolla, Dalí, Miró and Picasso, and also a photographic series – ‘Nicolas Nixon, The Brown Sisters’.

The Director of the Foundation, Pablo Jiménez said that they were enormously satisfied in what had been put together and noted that nowadays such exhibitions could only be assembled with a great deal of money.

The building which now holds the Foundation was built in 1884 for the Duchess of Medina de las Torres, and has 1000 square metre exhibition space over three floors.
