Mayor of Málaga says it will be difficult to help the Axarquía water situation
By h.b. - Oct 9, 2008 - 8:14 AM

It comes after the Axarquía was declared to be under a drought decree.

The Mayor of Málaga, Francisco de la Torre, has said that it will be difficult for the city to send water to the Axarquía. It comes after the eastern region of the province was declared to be official in a drought area this week.

The Mayor says however that he wants to be supportive, but considers technical problems would stop water being transferred from the Rio Verde.

Meanwhile the Young Farmers Association in the Axarquía have criticised what they see as a lack of provision by the Junta. 18 municipalities of the Axarquía have been included in the drought decree which puts new restrictions on farmers watering their crops.
