New pollution has appeared on beaches in Tarifa.
The 35,000 ton Liberian registered cargo ship, ‘Fedra’ which ran aground on Europa Point in Gibraltar last Friday, is breaking up as salvage operations are underway.
Another Liberian cargo ship the ‘Tawe’, ran aground on Saturday off Algeciras despite being empty at the time. However the puncturing of one of her fuel tanks has led to the pollution of some local beaches.
New pollution of tar has appeared along the Tarifa coast according to latest reports, with two teams from the local council already taking part in the clean up.
