The Spanish Meteorological Office has issued an orange alert for more heavy rain.
Heavy rain in the Valencia region today has cut many roads and left several drivers trapped in their cars.
As much as 30 litres per square metre has fallen in some areas in less than an hour with the coastal locality of Bellreguard, near Gandia, just one of the places which awoke this morning to see the town underwater.
Cheste, Buñol, Chiva and the La Safor region have been those most affected. In Chiva a watched has been placed on a local river which is in danger of bursting its banks, and the road between Cheste and Gestalgar has been closed.
The Spanish Meteorological Office has issued an orange alert for more heavy rain in the region, saying it remains likely.
