The group of 126 had spent ten days at sea.

A third immigrant who arrived in the group of 126 which came ashore on the Canary Island of La Gomera yesterday has died.

The cayuco arrived with the bodies of two on board, one of which was a child, and three other occupants of the boat were taken to hospital suffering from hyperthermia, one of them dying hours later in hospital. Another immigrant who complained of stomach pains was also admitted to the Nuestra Señora de la Virgen de Guadalupe Hospital on the island, but he is expected to be released later today.

The group had spent 10 days crossing from Guinea-Conakry in a boat no more than 20m long and 3.3m wide.

The Canary Island and central government in Madrid meet today to try and reach an agreement on how unaccompanied immigrant children are dealt with, given that all the reception centres on the islands are full, already holding 1,400 children.
