Alicante province overtakes Sevilla for population
larger | smaller
By h.b. - Nov 12, 2008 - 8:28 AM
High levels of immigration in Alicante are changing the country demographic.

The province of Alicante has taken over from Sevilla as the fourth largest for population in Spain.

Lower rates of immigration into Sevilla province compared to Alicante, have lead to the change in the demographic, and Sevilla could lose out also to Zaragoza for similar reasons.

In 2007 only 2.7% of the population in Sevilla province was of foreign origin, far lower than the 6.6% for Andalucía as a whole and distant from the 21.5% found in Alicante, 18.5% on the Balearics, 18.3% in Girona and 18% in Almeria.

THE WAY IMMIGRATION GOES IN SPAIN SOON WILL BE IN NEED OF ANOTHER "RECONQUISTA" LIKE THE ONE SPAIN HAD FEW HUNDRED YEARS BACK.
SPAIN HAS A BIG REAL PROBLEM WITH IT IMMIGRACTION LAW AND TODAY'S DAYS ARE NOT TO TAKE ANY MORE PEOPLE "IN" OR SOON MR. ZAPATERO WILL HAVE TO IMMIGRATE TO LA HABANA.
