The ETA ex-terrorist De Juana Chaos makes the headlines in Spain by refusing to return here.

El Mundo leads with the latest on the De Juana Chaos case. The paper headlines that his hosts in Dublin have been arrested for possessing explosives. The paper says the police have found a home made device in the home where the ETA activist was staying. The house is owned by an ex IRA activist says the paper, and his son is being investigated following an attack against the Shell petrol company.
El Mundo notes that the National Court has issued a search and capture order against him.
El País links the case to a look at the new Penal Code which will affect terrorists when released from prison. The reform includes electronic tags and the putting of limits on movement. – The paper says upto 12 measures to control such people will be able to be imposed.

El País reports on comments made by one of the men injured in the suicide attack against the Spanish armoured vehicle in Afghanistan. He tells the paper that he lost notion of reality and noted he was on fire.
ABC reports that Barack Obama will negotiate with the Taliban, although he will send more troops to Afghanistan at the same time. The paper considers that he wants to count on Iran in his new strategy for the control of the Sunnis in the region.
ABC has a photo of the Prince and Princess of Asturias comforting the widows and families at the funeral for the two Spanish soldiers yesterday.

El Mundo notes that Mariano Rajoy has called on Zapatero to defend free trade and competition when at the Washington economic summit next weekend.
El País says that Zapatero will tell the G-20 summit that the Bank of Spain’s supervision system be extended internationally.

El País notes that the number of unsold homes has increased by 20% in just six months. The Ministry for Housing has told El País that there are more than half a million empty new homes across the country.

El Mundo has a photo from the violent demonstration by Nissan workers facing the sack in Barcelona yesterday. The paper says that more than 2,000 workers from the factory at the Zona Franca in Barcelona took to the streets and, according to El Mundo, carried out ‘extreme violence’.
El País has a photo of demonstrators throwing stones. The paper says that Nissan may close the factory in Barcelona in 2012.
Público notes with front page photos of how workers have been taking to the streets of Spain – More than 2,000 Nissan workers in Barcelona, tyres being burned by ship workers in Gijón, a demonstration in Algeciras from 150 workers at a paper factory set to close – The paper says the workers are demanding measures from the Government and the G20 to help the real economy.

El País picks up on the British girl who is aged 13 and who has chosen to die rather than be forced to have a transplant. The cases of Hannah Jones getting widespread coverage in Spain. Público notes Hanna has won permission to die with dignity.

El Mundo notes that the Supreme Court has ruled that Spanish airports authority AENA, must reduce the noise at Barajas Airport in Madrid, and also ordered that local residents be paid compensation at a rate of 6,000 € each one. Each one of five who made the complaint, but there are 350 other cases still pending.

El Mundo highlights the complaints made by the Generalitat regional government in Cataluña, against ‘The Economist’ magazine for an article which criticises ‘linguistic dogmatism’. The regional government ha called for an apology.

The football shock gets front page coverage – Real Unión de Irún have eliminated Real Madrid from the King’s Cup with a goal in the 89th minute.

And finally,
There is much debate in the papers and on the editorial pages today about the costs of the new work by Miquel Barcelò, who has painted the dome of the United Nations building in Brussels. El Mundo notes for example, that the Government has said that paying for the work promotes ‘human rights and aids development’.
ABC leads on the story and says that sponsors dropping out have increased the cost to the Spanish Government.
