It comes just ahead of the start of the olive collection season.

The Andalucian regional government is to increase the number of work inspectors checking correct employment in the countryside.

The number dedicated to checking on workers in the olive harvest is to be doubled as union UGT has already complained about ‘mafia practices’ in the collection of oranges in the Sevilla vega.

It comes just ahead of the olive collection in Jaén province where 100,000 temporary workers are taken on, some 7,000 of them immigrants.
