Lluc Tomás Munar is Mayor of Llucmajor on the Balearics.

The Provincial Court for the Baleares has found the Partido Popular Mayor of Llucmajor guilty of the mis-use of public funds and sentenced him to three years in prison and banned him from holding public office for a further eight.

Lluc Tomás Munar was found guilty of using public money to give work to four companies which were owned by María del Amor Aldao. She was the partner of the now ex-councillor Joaquín Rabasco, and the couple have also been found guilty in the case. Rabasco has been sentenced to between four and six years in prison, while Maria del Amor gets two years. They also banned from holding public office for eight and six years respectively.

The Partido Popular say they will not expel Munuar from the party until the sentence is declared firm. He says he is ‘completely innocent’ and will appeal to the Supreme Court.
