The Spanish Foreign Secretary has told the Obama team of Spain's desire to work together on items of mutual interest.
Spanish Foreign Minister, Miguel Ángel Moratinos, is in Washington and yesterday met with Madeleine Albright for some 40 minutes.
She is one of the people designated by the President-elect, Barack Obama, to receive foreign representatives, and Moratinos is reported to have communicated the Spanish Government’s wish to cooperate with the Obama administration in areas of mutual interest, and to redefine the strategy in Afghanistan.
Albright is reported to have replied that she was aware of the advantages of a coordinated action with Spain.
Today Moratinos will make his goodbyes to Condeleezza Rice and also has meetings planned with John Kerry and John McCain.
