Eugenio Hidalgo has already been sentenced to four years in jail.

A second sentence has been handed down against the ex Mayor and Ex Head of Town Planning in the Andratx case in Palma de Mallorca.

The ex Mayor, Eugenio Hidalgo, has been sentenced to a seven year ban from holding public office, found guilty of perversion of the course of justice in his dealings with a civil servant, but the Provincial Court in Palma found him not guilty of town planning irregularities and the falsifying of official documents.

The case was related to the construction of a restaurant in a protected area by the ex-Mayor’s brother. He was sentenced last May to four years in prison in the first part of the case based in Andratx.

Meanwhile the ex Town Planning Chief, Jaume Massot, was yesterday sentenced to five years in jail and banned from holding public office for eight years, guilty of perversion of the course of justice and for falsifying documents.

Lawyer for the ex Mayor, Rafael Perera, has said that he will appeal to the Supreme Court.
