Allged ETA leader, 'Txapote', is accused of ordering the killing journalist José Luis López de Lacalle in Andoain in May 2006.

‘I’m not going to take part in this theatre’, were the defiant words of the ETA terrorist, Francisco Javier García Gaztelu, known as ‘Txapote’, as he was led into the Penal Court of the National Court in Madrid today. He said did not accept the legitimacy of this ‘fascist court’.

Shouting ‘fascists’ in Basque language Euskera, he faces a possible 30 year jail sentence for belonging to a terrorist group and ordering the killing of the journalist, José Luis López de Lacalle, in a case which is now ready for sentencing.

Judge Fernando García Nicolás asked him ‘Are you not going to respond to your own lawyer either?’ as the terrorist remained silent and turned his back.
