The patch reduces the side-effects of the drugs when taken orally.
A new patch against Alzheimer Disease has been presented in Barcelona to coincide with the annual meeting of the Spanish Neurological Society.
The patch is said to be effective in mild and moderate cases of the condition and guarantees an adequate and stable dosage of drug. The developers say that you can tell visually immediately if the patient is still wearing the patch which also reduces the side effects of other medications. One patch has to be placed on the patient each day.
The system has been developed by the Neurological Department of the Vall d’Hebron Hospital in Barcelona.
There are an estimated 500,000 Alzheimer patients in Spain, and some 24 million across the world.
